PAUL WARR-KING
is a dedicated citizen of Gresham who has served our city exceptionally well over the past four years first as councilman and now as president of the Gresham City Council. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in financial matters to the council. Paul has worked tirelessly to improve the livability and business climate of our community. We will need this kind of background in the challenging years ahead.

Paul is a retired financial executive with national and international banking experience. He was Vice President of Business Banking with Key Bank; Vice President International Banking of the First Hawaiian Bank; and Regional Manager of the Oregon Bank. His integrity, insistance on fiscal accountability and honesty in all financial matters has brought credit to his accomplishments.

Community Involvement
Paul considers his position as City Councilman as a full time job. Not only is he very active in the business of the city, he has given countless hours to many community groups. One of his favorite non-profit groups is the SnowCap Community Charity where he has served as board chairman. He also is the past president and board member of the Gresham Chamber of Commerce, past board member of the Gresham Rotary Club and Treasurer and board member of the East Metro Economic Alliance.

Personal Background
Paul has lived and worked around the world. After a childhood in war-torn England and the death of his father, he went to Canada to join his sister where he began his career with the Royal Bank of Canada, working in community banking in many cities and towns in British Columbia.

He moved to the United States and continued his banking work while studying international economics at UCLA. He then moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for an international banking position for First Hawaiian Bank. In this job he was privileged to work with individuals and businesses throughout the Pacific Rim. It was in Hawaii that Paul became a US citizen. He served as a member of the National Defense Executive Reserve Corps and, most importantly, he could VOTE!

Paul has lived in Oregon since 1981. His career at Key Bank focused on small and medium businesses, helping them grow. Outside of work Paul serves on civic and charitable boards and committees, which are outlined in his campaign brochure. He is the father of 3 grown children and has 7 busy grandchildren. He is married to Mary Jo Hubert Warr-King, an Oregon Pharmacist and lifetime Gresham resident.

Educational Background
Paul is an honor graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington and has completed courses in International Studies at the University of California Los Angeles. Paul knows business and civic finances and budgeting. In working around the globe, he has developed excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills, as well as deep cultural sensitivity. Paul’s life experiences, his work in helping businesses grow efficiently, and his interpersonal skills coupled with his gentle, humble yet friendly personality has made him the right person for Gresham City Council.

Governmental Experience
Paul has a strong background and much experience in governmental programs. This experience has been invaluable to the City of Gresham especially in complex financial matters. He serves and has served on many critical programs including the Gresham City Budget and Finance Committee (as past chairman), East County Intercouncil where he was a co-founder, a member of the Rockwood Urban Development Commission , Sister City Associations and the US National Defense Executive Reserve Corps.
