Code Enforcement Laws to Clean up the City and Improve Our Livability
During the past couple of years the Council has taken several steps to follow up on its commitment to clean up the city, improve its livability and create a pride in our community. This started with increasing the staffing in our Code Enforcement group, reviewing and tightening the codes, emphasizing the graffiti removal program and establishing a new rental housing inspection program.
Code enforcement is responsible for responding to citizen's concerns about City Code complaints. These can include such items as land use. graffiti, junk, parking issues. sidewalks, vegetation, and abandoned vehicles. In addition to inspecting and notifying property owners of non-compliance with city codes, city staff provide information to assist property owners in resolving compliance issues.
The city is divided into four districts with a code enforcement officer responsible for complaints within their district. The Department can be contacted on-line or directly on 503-618-2463.
