Paul Warr-King is the current President of the Gresham City Council.
We sincerely would like your vote to re-elect him to Position 5 of the City Council.

The Completion of the East County Justice Center

Multnomah County has planned for sometime to provide Gresham citizens with access to better court facilities in a new and expanded facility that was to be constructed in the Rockwood area. This proposed 70,000+ square foot justice center was to replace a small, substandard single courtroom now located in the old City Hall on West Powell Boulevard. The new center would house four to six courtrooms in addition to facilities for District Attorney staff, Multnomah County Sheriff's Department and up to 12,000 square feet dedicated for a Gresham Police Department office/precinct.gavel

The official project kick off took place on April 1st 2008 with an original estimated cost of around $18 million for completion with major funding to come from the sale of other County properties.

Unfortunately, through misjudgement on design cost estimates, and escalating material costs, since the last appraisal cost estimate was made over two years ago, this has now raised the adjusted cost to double that for the originally planned building!
A stakeholder group is now meeting to help get the project back on track by a redesign for smaller facilities and looking at alternative methods of finance. If this project continues to languish there is a good possibility your local Councilors will dust off an original proposal to just have a new smaller scale Municipal Courthouse facility built for use by Gresham citizens.
